Le
Shire Is part of a larger farm complex in the
small French village of Villemorin in the Poitou-Charentes region. The
original building was completed in 1780, and has seen many changes over
the centuries, the French Revulution, World War 1 and 2. One of the
outbuildings bearing the names of German soldiers billeted there during
WW2.
The owner has
attempted to retain some of the historical aspects of the farmhouse,
with the inclusion of modern-day updates to the kitchen and bathroom
areas.
The Charente Maritime region has something for everyone; sun, sand,
sea, history, culture, countryside, wildlife the list is endless. With
the historic cities and towns of La Rochelle , Saintes and Royan,
glorious beaches (calm family spots as well as magnificent surfing
waves), beautiful countryside and fascinating islands, a holiday here
is an opportunity and experience not to be missed.
Throughout the summer months there are markets, festivals and street
theatre. Leisure parks, nature reserves and wildlife parks are open
most of the year and the majority of museums, art galleries places of
historic interest are also open throughout the year. Whether you want a
sight seeing trip, a relaxing holiday or a mixture of both, the
Charante Maritime region can cater for you.
Villemorin is a tiny hamlet only 45 minutes away for the
airports at La Rochelle and Poiters. It overlooks unspoilt rolling
countryside rich in wildlife. It is 1.5 km away from Aulnay with shops,
bars and restaurants. It is ideally situated for a country or seaside
holiday. There are many local attractions and summer activities. Below

also boasts a colourful, lively market Thursday and Sunday. Sunday

food stall - Fray Bentos pies, Bird's Custard and so on.

Dampierre Sur Boutonne and Saintes.
Around the farm you may encounter wildlife such as the Hoopoe bird,
Humming Bird Moths, swallowtail butterflies and as night falls, watch the bats flitting in
and out of the barn entrance and perhaps the large barn owl that visits
on a regular basis.
